This Morning 5/29/12 - The Religion of Logic

Continued from yesterday...(including original post):

Logic as Religion

What is God?
What happens after this life has expired?
Do we go to sleep and never wake up, having no recollection of the past or afterlife?
Does a parallel universe exist - heaven, hell, purgatory, spirit realm, happy hunting grounds?

The questions are important to ask, but without some kind of belief in a particular cosmology or faith in a doctrine, the religion of Logic takes over.

The religion of Logic tells us that nothing exists until it is proven and substantiated repeatedly by numerous unbiased, reliable sources.  The religion of Logic provides scientific proof of microscopic biological ecosystems and mathematical proof of the distance from Earth to Mars.   The religion of Logic makes it possible to remove the heart from a dead person and transplant it into a live person who would otherwise die.  The religion of Logic proves, over and over, in science, math and medicine, the success of its theories.

However, the religion of Logic doesn't understand the human spirit, emotions or creative intelligence.  The religion of Logic cannot tell me what really happens to consciousness after death of the body, nor can it tell me why one person will cry at a movie and another will laugh.  Most important, the religion of Logic doesn't know how or why a 3-year old child has the ability to play piano and compose like Mozart without having had prior training.  These things are part of the Great Mystery for which the religion of Logic has no answers.

The religion of Logic is therefore not applicable to all aspects of our lives.

Our lives are multidimensional, not mono-formulaic.  Therefore, the religion of Logic has no business trying to explain God, or the lack of God; it is simply out of its purview.  It would be like a car mechanic predicting next year's ocean current effects upon the growing season in South Africa.

You cannot give clear directions to a Pygmy in the language of Hindi.

Having established that the religion of Logic cannot possibly hold answers to questions of spirituality, or faith, I propose a revolution whereby we stop wondering what happens after this life.  Without the possibility of God, would we even bother asking these questions?  So, go ahead and believe what you will.

The Great Mystery can only be answered in another context.  On this earth, in this life, we don't have access to that context.  So enjoy the ride and be well!
