I have grown to understand why it is better to be silent sometimes, even if you know the answer. The process of discovery is as important a part of the journey as finding the answer.
It isn't always easy to watch someone (especially a son or daughter) wade through the mucky trenches of life's difficult lessons. To offer someone the answer to a situation they are struggling to resolve can rob them of important integration scars honestly earned by the digging and scratching and fighting for one's own truth.
The beauty - the best part - is watching the lights go on after the struggle has ceased and acceptance is palpable. Sometimes it is painful and sometimes it is joyful, but either way, the light going on - the illumination of one's truth - is a powerful, significant and necessary part of the living.
