This Morning 7/25/12 Track of the Mind

"If you're going to live in the past, don't be surprised when the things in the present don't work out."

There is nothing so frustrating as trying to communicate with someone whose mind is in their past life, past job, past relationship, or childhood.  There are times for these types of recollections, and resolving the pain and discord of our past is an important part of growing up.  But it is important to know where your mind resides when at rest.

What do you think about?   The past, the present, or the future?

Keeping track of the track of your mind will tell you much about your present.   Thinking about the past a lot will most likely result in missing the true experience of your present situation.  As well, this is true of future-thinking.  It doesn't always hold true, but I'm proposing that in order to really experience that which is in your life now, keep your mind generally focused on what is instead of what was or could be.

Some call it mindfulness.

I call it gratitude.
